Marie Naert

Sustainability Co-ordinator

“Sustainable living plays a huge part in my personal life. Being a mother of two young children, I feel responsible for leaving a healthy planet to the future generations. Living on one of the last wild places on Earth is a great privilege and working towards sustainable living is an uplifting and rewarding mission.”

Marie completed a Bachelor of Business Administration in 2010 at Griffith University (Australia) and went on to attain a Master’s in Business Management – Major Entrepreneurship at ESG Management School (France) in 2012. She then worked in the tourism industry as a travel consultant for a tour operator in Swakopmund, Namibia. When she and her husband moved to Zimbabwe in 2013, Marie worked as a Lodge Manager at camps in Mana Pools National Park. In 2018, Marie and her family settled at Malilangwe, and Marie took on the role of Sustainability Co-ordinator in 2019. Marie’s role is to provide ongoing monitoring and assessment of the Trust’s efforts towards sustainability, to set up and facilitate sustainable practices, to minimise impact on the environment, and to drive behavioural change within staff and others.
