Monitoring the size and trend of populations

Tracking animal species numbers and trends is an important part of the work we do. By compiling annual census data into time series charts for each animal species, we interpret the data trends  using mortality, restocking, immigration and emigration data. This gives our management team an overall understanding of the important factors driving the population dynamics of each population. The methods used to monitor the size of animal populations at Malilangwe are described below.
