Malilangwe Sport & Recreation

The Malilangwe Trust has a soccer team comprising players from different departments across the property. Better known as The Malilangwe Leopards, the team engages in both social and league matches with other soccer teams from the surrounding community. There are also inter-departmental soccer matches on the property, which make for good camaraderie and builds departmental team spirit.

The Malilangwe 100 m race for both ladies’ and men’s events was a competition started in December 2011 as part of a motivational exercise at the annual staff Christmas party. It has become a yearly occurrence, with the winners taking home cash prizes and a trophy coveted by departments and individuals alike.

Malilangwe Vegetable Gardens

Fresh produce is grown both at headquarters (HQ) and at Tsuvuka village, and is available for sale to Malilangwe staff at a reasonable price. Our HQ garden focuses on growing a variety of lettuces, herbs and green leafy vegetables, which are harvested by the kitchen at Singita Pamushana for guest menus. Our Tsuvuka garden supplies the more locally favored produce of cabbage, rapeseed, tomatoes and onions. Both vegetable gardens are tended by Malilangwe staff members, who are trained in irrigation, composting, crop rotation and general care of plants.
